Adult Diabetes Education Classes (DSMES)

Helps people with diabetes gain the knowledge and skills needed to modify their behavior and successfully self-manage the disease and its related conditions. This program is taught by a certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian. Topics covered include: Controlling your diabetes Healthy eating Monitoring your numbers Preventing complications Services: Adult Diabetes Management Clinics

Who can use it

Individuals aged 18 or older with a diagnosis of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes based on: Fasting blood sugar greater than or equal to 126 Two-hour post-glucose challenge greater than or equal to 200 mg/dL Random glucose test over 200 mg/dL for a person with symptoms of uncontrolled diabetes
